Biden Faces Widespread Backlash for Apologizing Over Calling Illegal Alien Killer ‘Illegal’

President Joe Biden ignited widespread backlash over the weekend after he apologized for correctly referring to the illegal alien who is suspected of murdering a young woman in Georgia as “an illegal” because he did not want to “disrespect” illegal immigrants.

The young woman — 22-year-old Georgia nursing student Laken Riley — was brutally murdered allegedly by Venezuelan national Jose Ibarra, who is reportedly an active gang member.

During an interview on MSNBC, when the interviewer brought up Biden’s remark from his State of the Union speech, Biden interjected: “Undocumented. An undocumented person.”

“And I shouldn’t have used ‘illegal,’ it’s undocumented,” Biden claimed, even though the correct legal terminology is, in fact, “illegal alien.”

“What I’m not going to do, what I won’t do, I’m not gonna treat any, any, any of these people with disrespect,” Biden later added.

“Look, they built the country. The reason our economy is growing. We have to control the border and more orderly flow, but I don’t share his view at all.”

Biden, who botched Laken Riley’s name during his speech, faced intense criticism for his apology on MSNBC.

Watch:

“Let’s get this straight: Joe Biden just apologized to an illegal alien charged with murder,” said Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR). “But the media would rather attack @KatieBrittforAL for telling the truth about Biden’s policies. Preposterous. And the American people will see through it.”

The Republican Party posted on X: “Joe Biden regrets using the term ‘illegal’ to describe an illegal immigrant, but not his policies that led to the murder of Laken Riley. Outrageous.”

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) said: “That’s why he needs money for more clerks at the border…to document them as he lets them in. And the media nods and goes right along. The Democrats and the mainstream media hate the American people.”

“This isn’t difficult – the term ‘alien’ appears multiple times in Title 8 of the U.S. Code,” said former Trump-era Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf. “It describes a person who is not a citizen or national of the U.S. And when those individuals choose to enter the country illegally they become ‘illegal aliens.’ There’s nothing derogatory about these terms.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said: “Disgusting. Joe Biden just apologized to the illegal alien animal who brutally murdered Laken Riley.”

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin responded: “Expressing regret for accurately describing the Venezuelan illegal alien charged with bashing in Laken Riley’s skull as an ‘illegal’ is a remarkable moment. The one and only time Biden mentions her name – he botches it – and now he hopes to avoid offending her alleged killer.”

Former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker said: “Hey @JoeBiden how about apologizing for the policies that left the border open to illegal immigrants like the one who killed Laken Riley?!?”

“What an absolutely pathetic embarrassment for a man…” said podcast host Dave Rubin.
